A few things of note:
The estimate provided using this calculator does not represent a final determination, or actual award, of financial assistance, or a final net price; it is an estimate.
The estimate is based on cost of attendance and financial aid provided to students in a previous year. Cost of attendance and financial aid availability change year to year and student to student.
The estimates generated apply to U.S. citizens and permanent residents only; international students are typically not eligible for federal or state aid and should contact Admissions for more information.
First, we need to know a bit about you/the student.

Let's start with what an estimated Cost of Attendance (COA) includes. The Cost of Attendance is a federal financial aid term that must include these distinct categories of costs:
Direct Costs
- paid directly to the college
• Tuition & Fees
• Living Expenses (if living on campus)
Indirect Costs
- not paid to the college; these costs can vary greatly by student
• Living Expenses (if living off campus)
• Books & Supplies
• Transportation
• Miscellaneous
The Cost of Attendance does not factor in financial aid.
We will get there next!
For now, below you will see your personalized estimated Cost of Attendance categories:

Next, let's talk about financial aid.
Got it. I'm ready to keep going.
Need-Based Government Financial Aid
How is financial aid calculated?
Colleges will use two numbers from the FAFSA:
Your Student Aid Index, or SAI.
The SAI is not just family income; it is a calculation of various financial numbers that can impact your need for assistance to pay for college. This number can be as low as -1,500 and as high as 999,999. A negative SAI indicates you have a higher financial need.
Your Pell Grant eligibility.
The most common type of federal financial aid is the
Pell Grant
, which is an amount as high as $7,395 for the current aid year. This is not a loan; it is money provided to you, interest-free, by the federal government to lower your Cost of Attendance.
Luckily, the FAFSA has a quick and easy tool that will walk you through the criteria used to calculate these numbers and provide you with an estimated SAI and Pell Grant amount before you submit an official FAFSA. You will use this to retrieve these numbers to enter below.
Next Steps:
1. Go to the
FAFSA Financial Aid Estimator tool
and follow the prompts (this will open in a new window so you do not close out of this form). This should take no longer than 5-10 minutes.
2. Make note of the
SAI
and
Pell Grant
amounts that the tool provides you. The results should look something like this, with the necessary numbers circled:
3. Enter this information below.
Estimated SAI
If your SAI is negative, enter it with the negative sign (ex: -500, not 500).
A negative SAI will be converted to 0 for the Net Price calculation
Estimated Pell Grant
Interest-free federal grant money. This is not a loan.
Great news! In addition to the aid listed above, as a Louisiana resident, you also qualify for the Go Grant.
